FAA Reviews New Autonomous Flight Guidelines

FAA officials confirmed today they are reviewing updated guidelines for autonomous flight systems, potentially clearing the path for expanded commercial drone operations.

The announcement drew praise from the Commercial Drone Alliance and several major logistics companies that have been awaiting regulatory clarity for beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations.

Industry stakeholders expect final guidance by mid-2025, with initial commercial applications potentially launching before year-end.
